4 Wheel Disk Upgrades for the 93-96 Mitsubishi Mirage and variants.

CC Lancer, CC Lancer Coupe, Eagle Summit, Dodge Colt, Plymouth Colt.

Nice little car, but the brake system is certainly nothing more than only just adequate.

Standard for 4G15 SOHC 12v 1.5L engine: 184x13mm solid front disks, 180mm rear drums
Standard for 4G93 SOHC 16v 1.8L engine: 184x19mm ventilated front disks, 200mm rear disks and ABS.

If you plan on any kind of performance updates or a 4G93 DOHC, 4G63 or 4G63T engine swap, you also ABSOLUTELY have to upgrade the brakes. I cannot stress this enough, because the standard brakes are unsafe with the performance of the normally aspirated 4G63, let alone any turbo engine.

Using mostly standard Mitsubishi or compatible parts, you can upgrade to near EVO3 specification.

To this ... 5x4.50" stud pattern, and 275x24mm ventilated disks with 2 piston calipers. Note that a 6.0x15 or 6.0x16 wheel is required for this. 250x24mm disks and single piston calipers from the FWD Talon/Eclipse are also an option, and 5.5x14 wheels can be used.

275mm ventilated disks with dual piston calipers

Rear disks and calipers to complement this setup are 266x10mm from the 1G Talon/Eclipse. A remanufactured rear 5-stud hub kit is required. The same dimension parts can be used with 4x4.50" hubs from the Galant / Eagle 2000 GTX.

From this ... standard 4x100mm stud pattern, and 184mm drums on the rear, using 4.5x13 wheels.

original 184mm solid disks

If you don't yet have replacement wheels, then NOW is the time to upgrade your car to 4x4.50" (Galant, Lancer GSR / EVO3 spec) or 5x4.50" (Talon/Eclipse spec) from the current 4x100mm pattern. The 4.50" pattern gives you more options on 15" and 16" factory and aftermarket wheels.

If you do have aftermarket wheels with the 4x100mm pattern and you want better brakes, then you either pay the price of other brake kits, or replace your wheels with 4.50" pattern types.

I can supply the following parts to assist with this conversion.

a) rear hub adapter sleeves to use 89-94 Galant/Eagle 2000 GTX or Talon hubs (not recommended if using 16" wheels)

b) rear hub adapter sleeves (press fitted) to new (!) Expo hubs for 4x4.50" (preferred solution for 14" or 15" factory wheels).

c) rear hub adapter sleeves (press fitted) to new (!) Expo hubs redrilled to 5x4.50" (preferred solution for 16" factory wheels).

d) Caliper adapter bracket kit (several custom made parts) to use 1G Talon (5-stud) or Galant/Eagle 2000 GTX (4-stud) rear disks and calipers

e) Rebuilt Colt front knuckles, with new bearings and seals, and either 4x4.50" or 5x4.50" hubs. This uses the standard small 74x40mm bearings.

f) Remanufactured Talon front knuckles, with new bearing and seals, with steering arm modification to fit tie-rod on to the top of the arm (rather than underneath as at present. This uses the larger 80x40mm bearings. The upper knuckle/strut bolt hole in the strut has to be slotted, as do the top strut insulator bolt holes to reset the camber.

All kits come with detailed installation instructions with pictures where necessary, and a list of the additional parts you'll find it easier and cheaper (because of shipping) to source locally.

I don't usually provide new rotors (e.g. slotted or cross drilled) or rebuilt calipers, as these are available just about anywhere, and shipping is expensive. I will do exchange front knuckles if you pay the shipping.

I take PayPal only. Please note that these kits are made in small quantities, and are priced accordingly. Ball park figure for a complete kit of parts for the four wheels, including MANDATORY new wheel bearings and seals, is C$1500-1600 + shipping cost. Email for more details.
