Repeatable Measurement of impurities in surimi (fish paste):
This is a custom application written in PiXCL for NutechAnalytical of Ottawa, Canada. This application controls an Epson scanner, acquires an image, classifies (locates from the background) any impurities according to user defineable parameters, displays and identifies the impurities in the sample, saves the classified image to disk, then measures the impurities and creates a report directly in MS-Excel using COM.

HD Video Playback System, including extension library for playback hardware
This very large application set was developed by Steve Laifer of HDShowstation in New Jersey, USA. About 80 percent of the product is written in PiXCL, and consists of multiple communicating processes and a 58 command extension library for HD video playback hardware from Visual Circuits of Minneapolis MN, USA.

Satellite Image Data enhancement: Principal Components and "Inverse" Mapping Functions.
PiXCL 8 includes Principal Component generation from signature files (including training areas), plus the "inverse" functions to map back to RGB space. The same multispectral signature files can also be generated and used for maximum likelyhood classification. Satellite imagery is used for example here, but the tools are also usable for general purpose image analysis. |

Imaging Photometer control using COM, with custom user interface.
The Lumetrix Corp (Ottawa, Canada) RT32 Digital Photometric Image Analysis System is used to acquire accurate and repeatable photometric measurements using calibrated industrial grade Firewire cameras. The software suite optionally includes a COM object for camera control and image acquisition for users who want to create custom applications. Here, a PiXCL 8 application links to the COM object and is used to measure light intensity in an industrial production environment simulation / demo program. Image statistics are generated and the item under test is PASSed or FAILed according to preset parameters. |
